Privacy policy

The Cherish Company (“Cherish,” “we,” “us”) runs thecherishcompany.com. Below, we explain which personal information we collect, why we collect it, who receives it, and the choices you hold. It applies to people in the United States. We do not collect more than we need.

What we collect

We set out to collect no “sensitive personal information,” as the CCPA uses that term. Payment account details are the one exception, and our processor handles them.

Why we use it

To take, ship, and support your order and any claims under our guarantee.
To email you about your order and its delivery.
To send marketing emails you asked for. You can stop them any time.
To keep the store secure and prevent fraud.
To measure how the store performs and improve it.
To show Cherish ads on other sites, if you allow cookies for it. Our advertising partners (such as Google, Meta and TikTok) set these cookies.
To meet legal duties, such as tax records.

Who we share it with

We share information with service providers who work for us under contract: Shopify (our store and checkout), payment providers, our email and text-message service, shipping carriers, and analytics and advertising partners such as Google, Meta and TikTok.

We may also share information for four reasons. We may share it to follow the law. We may share it to answer a legal request. We may share it to protect our customers. We may share it if the company is sold or merged.

Sale and sharing

Nobody pays us for the personal details you share with us.

Some advertising and analytics cookies can count as “sharing” under California law. The term is cross-context behavioral advertising. To opt out of this sharing, email care@thecherishcompany.com with the words "Do not sell or share".

We honor browser opt-out signals such as Global Privacy Control, as a request to opt out of selling and sharing. We do not respond to Do Not Track signals.

Age under 16: if we know a shopper is younger than 16, their personal information is never sold. It is also never used for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep your bag, to remember a discount code you enter, and to measure traffic. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The store may work less well if you do.

Your rights

You may have the rights below if you live in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, or another state with a privacy law. The exact rights depend on the law where you live.

Know and access: the categories and the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.
Delete: ask us to delete it. Legal exceptions apply, such as tax records.
Correct: fix information that is wrong.
Opt out: you can stop us from selling or sharing your information, and from using it for targeted advertising.
Limit: the use of sensitive personal information, if we ever use it.
No retaliation: we will not charge you more or treat you worse for using a right.

Making a request

Email care@thecherishcompany.com. You can also use the form on our Contact page.

We ask for your name, email, and a recent order number. We use them to match your request to our records. This keeps your information safe.

We answer within the time the law of your state allows.
You can use an authorized agent. The agent must show your written permission, and we may ask you to confirm your identity with us directly.
If we deny your request, you can appeal. Reply to our email with the word “Appeal.” We answer within the time the law of your state allows. You can then contact your state attorney general.

How long we keep it

Order records: as long as tax and accounting laws require.
Marketing data: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Web analytics data: only as long as we need it to measure and improve the store.

Email and text

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. We stop marketing emails within 10 business days after you use it. Texts go only to people who signed up for them; reply STOP to any text to stop them, or HELP for help. Order and shipping emails are not marketing. We may still send them.

Security

Payments run on Shopify’s secure checkout, and we never see or store your full card number. Only the people who need your information to serve you can see it. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.

Children

Our store is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. We do not knowingly collect it from anyone under 16 without a parent’s consent. If you think a child gave us information, write to us. We will delete it.

Links to other sites

Our store may link to sites we do not control. Their privacy rules apply there.

Changes

We post changes here with a new effective date. If a change is material, we tell customers on our list by email.
